Business German

Business German credentials add an important layer to your German language skills and can open up career opportunities abroad and in the US. There are more than 3,700 subsidiaries of German companies in the US alone. In Europe, Germany is the biggest economy and plays an important role within the EU where German is the most commonly spoken mother tongue.

At Northwestern, you can study Business German in three different courses that expose you to useful linguistic structures and vocabulary used in business contexts as well as help you to develop global competency by gaining cross-cultural skills and knowledge about different economic and business models. We encourage and help our students to apply their knowledge through internships in German-speaking environments. In addition, Northwestern is an approved test site for internationally recognized Goethe-Institute language examinations, including one with a focus on Business German.
