Bernhard Weidinger is a senior researcher at the Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance (DÖW) in Vienna, and serves on the academic advisory boards to the Austrian Journal for Historical Studies and to erinnern.at, Austria's federal program for teaching and learning about National Socialism and the Holocaust.
He holds MA degrees in Political Science and Development Studies, and received his PhD from the University of Vienna in 2013. Later that year, he was a visiting scholar at the Center for Right-Wing Studies (CRWS) at the University of California, Berkeley. His areas of expertise include the far right in Austria, (German) nationalism, political masculinities, and student fraternities, the subject of his doctoral dissertation. He joins Northwestern German as the Fulbright-Botstiber Visiting Professor of Austrian-American Studies 2022/23.
